John Tate joined Patriot in 2012. John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the University of South Carolina. John holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation and has recently completed the requirements to be qualified as a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®) in which he integrates biblical wisdom into the advice that he provides to his clients. Prior to joining Patriot, John worked in non-profit financial management for over 18 years. He served as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Maryville and served as the Treasurer, Benefits Officer and Director of Administrative Services for the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, which serves more than 900 churches in East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and North Georgia. As part of his responsibilities, he managed a $12 million health insurance plan, a $27 million retirement plan, and a $135 million annual budget.
John specializes in helping his clients maximize their financial resources and is focused on serving clients that are interested in making a difference with their resources.
John has served his local church congregation in several leadership positions and was elected and served as a delegate to General Conference in 2012, 2016, and 2019. In addition to his family and work responsibilities, he is currently the President of the Morning Cup local Toastmasters group, serves on the Maryville High School Booster Board, and is a certified official with USA Swimming.
John lives in Maryville with his wife, Kelly, and their four boys.
